About Us
History
New Cambridge Painting LLC was founded in 1987 by Kurt J. Jones. Kurt started in the industry as a child working with his uncle on Saturday and Sunday afternoons visiting and helping clean up jobsites. As he grew he began working part time during high school and then full time after graduation. After working through an apprenticeship, becoming a foreman and eventually moving on to a Project Manager he eventually moved on to start his own business. With little financial backing he started off as a one man show doing small jobs while never forgetting his ultimate goal of becoming a large commercial painting company. The name of the company comes from the original name of the Parish which included Bristol and Burlington prior to 1806.
Today New Cambridge Painting employs fifteen painters, a full time estimator and an office manager. Kurt visits job sites on a daily basis, overseeing the jobs and the business to maintain the quality of workmanship and service our customers deserve.
We are members of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA).
Our Work Force
We are an affirmative action / equal opportunity employer. Our work force is made up of employees not subcontractors . We are fully insured including Worker's Compensation on all of our employees.
Safety Training
All employees are required to go through a Certified OSHA 10 Safety course every five years. We are in an OSHA alliance through the PDCA in which we attend classes targeting specific areas.
Through Tool Box Talks, Initial Job Evaluations and regular scheduled safety meetings our employees are trained to adhere to our safety policy.
All employees are fit tested for wearing respirators on a yearly basis and trained for their use. Employees are trained for the EPA and State of Connecticut regulations for Lead Safe Practices.
Training
As well as safety training, we also stay up to date on the latest trends in the coating industry through our vendors. We recently spent an afternoon with Benjamin Moore in their “Our Town” presentation highlighting all their new low and 0% VOC coatings.
We have been trained by Scuff Master in applying their Multi-Color Finishes. We also have a long standing relationship with the factory representatives for Zolatone and Polomyx and meet with them for on the job training and consultation with their products.
The PDCA has proven to be a wealth of knowledge for us through monthly meetings where we meet with our competitors and discuss jobs or issues with our business openly and try to help each other to succeed. We have speakers come in from all areas of the trade keeping us informed of our industry. We have also taken advantage of the PDCA Conventions and sponsored programs in our area.
